RULES FOR INTER HOUSE COMPETITIONS CLASSES I TO XII

WHAT IS EXPECTED FROM DPS STUDENTS ?

  1.  They should take good care of their health and be robust and strong.
  2. Always be friendly with others in the school and outside.
  3. Avoid vulgarity in their talk and behaviour.
  4. Accept whatever work is assigned to them as their Rightful share. They should face difficulties courageously.
  5. Always be ready to lend a helping hand to their parents, brothers and sisters, at home, to the teachers and companions in school and also to any unattended visitor they happen to meet in the school premises.
  6. Stand up when any teacher or visitor comes to talk to them.
  7. Never cheat or be unfair at play.
  8. Be truthful whatever be the cost.
  9. Never be cruel. They should know that cruelty is the trait of a bully, while kindness is the mark of a gentleman.
  10. Respect the liberty and rights of others.
  11. Respect the beauty and present ability of the classroom and of the school premises and report any damage they may observe.
  12. Never hesitate to say “No” when asked or tempted to do a thing which they know is wrong.
  13. Instead of lamenting and grumbling over the evils of this world, they should try to contribute their share in making it a better place to live in.
  14. Look upon people from all parts of the world as their brethren, irrespective of their colour or creed.
  15. Not waste their time in idle gossip.
  16. Take pride in wearing their school uniform.
  17. Be brave and courageous and should express themselves freely but with politeness.
  18. Accept their mistakes boldly, in case they commit any.

GENERAL GUIDELINES TO PARENTS / GUARDIANS

  1.  Parents are required not to enter class rooms to see their children or teachers during school hours. They will meet the teachers at the reception only when required. Prior intimation through the almanac is appreciated.
  2. Parents are requested to inform the school if there is any change in their address / telephone numbers.
  3. For security reasons, half day leave can not be entertained. In an emergency, written permission must be taken from the Principal. The child will be allowed to go home only with the parents / authorised person.
  4. If student(s) come to school being escorted by attendants, parents need to advise the ward(s) that they should not leave before the attendants arrive. In case of delay they should report to the school office.
  5. Attention of parents is drawn to the fact that criticism of the teacher or school in the presence of their children should be scrupulously avoided because it causes them to lose respect for their teacher with the consequent failure to learn from them. It further retards his/her progress.
  6. Check the haircut, uniform and punctuality of your ward in the morning.
  7. See that your ward carries text books / exercise books according to the Time Table for that day. No extra books are allowed.
  8. See that he/she is prepared for the Assignment tests and brings answer books to school everyday. Also see his/her Report Card and teacher’s remarks in his class work/home work exercise books.
  9. Parents should not send their ward to school to appear in the Assignment Test if he / she is unwell, as it would not be possible to permit the student to go home after the test is over.
  10. Encourage your ward to take a balanced interest in studies, co-curricular activities and sports.
  11. Children should not bring crackers, colour, transistors, mobiles etc. to the school. Bursting of crackers and playing with colour is liable to lead to expulsion of a student from the school.
  12. No student will be allowed to go home without the written permission of the Principal unless the parent or an authorized person comes to take the child.
  13. If your ward is absent from school he/she must make up all the work missed by him/her.
  14. Please do not request for a teacher to be called on phone.
  15. All parents are requested to impart Health Education to their children so that they :- Maintain personal hygiene like : trimming of nails and being neat on a regular basis. Students should exercise regularly. Sleep for at least eight hours daily. Have a balanced diet, nutritionally rich in proteins. Drink water which is either boiled or filtered. All students are advised to bring their own water bottles from home. Seek advice from their family physician regarding healthy living. Children must be administered the following vaccines at proper time: BCG, DPT, Oral Polio to be completed before entry to School, Measles / MMR, DT - at 5 years of age, Tetanus Booster to be given between 7-16 years of age, Typhoid, Cholera, Hepatitis once every year, Meningitis (optional) etc. Students suffering from diseases such as Chicken Pox, Cholera, Measles, Mumps, Whooping-Cough and Jaundice must observe the prescribed period of quarantine as mentioned under the heading “Absence” in the Almanac.
  16. Students suffering from chronic diseases like conjunctivitis, Dermatitis, Scabies, etc. should not be sent to school.
  17. If a child is suffering from diseases like Asthma, Epilepsy, Rheumatic Heart Disease, etc. the school should be kept informed of the precautions.
  18. It is mandatory for all the parents to attend PTI session.
  19. In the case of being detained in the school on disciplinary ground, the parents will have to collect and escort his/her ward from the school.

SCHOOL RULES

  1.  Every student should carry his / her Almanac to school every day.
  2. The school gate will close sharp at 7:55 am. Students who repeatedly reach school late will be taken to task.
  3. Students are not allowed to bring vehicles (2/4 wheelers) to the school.
  4. The warning bell before the classes or assembly is a sign for all to go to the assembly or to their respective class rooms. This should be done promptly and in silence. As soon as they are in their classes they should get ready with their books and notebooks for the first period.
  5. Change of class rooms between periods should be done in silence and in an orderly fashion.
  6. No shouting or whistling is allowed in or around the school building. Running in corridors is strictly prohibited.
  7. It is strictly forbidden to throw anything at anyone.
  8. Non-Sikh boys should get their hair cut at regular intervals in a proper way, No fashionable haircut is allowed. Nonconforming students will be severely dealt with.
  9. Sikh boys must wear turban in Class IX and above. A patka may be worn only while playing games.
  10. Students should be habitually clean and always neatly dressed. The school uniform should be worn on all working days and for all school functions. Students who are shabbily dressed or not in proper uniform will not be allowed to enter their class rooms. No graffiti should be drawn on school uniform. Tight fitting trousers are a strict no in the school.
  11. Students must come to school in uniform only. This rule applies even when they come to school for any purpose other than attending classes or even after school hours.
  12. Photographs of students must be in school uniform only for all purposes.
  13. Care must be taken of all school property and no student should scratch or spoil the desks or chairs or damage any school furniture or write or draw anything on the walls or in any way damage things belonging to others. Any damage done should be reported at once to the class teacher or to the Principal.
  14. Any damage done will be made good by the concerned student together with a fine imposed on him/her for such an offence. Anyone who notices something damaged should report the matter even if he or she does not know who had done it.
  15. Students are not allowed to bring any sharp instruments, Mobile / Cell phone, valuable articles like expensive watches, fountain pens, transistor, calculators, camera and Jewellery items to the school, as the school will not be responsible for any articles lost or found.
  16. Lending or borrowing of money or other articles is not permitted.
  17. Only literature which is connected with the school academics is to be brought to school.
  18. Our students should observe polite manners wherever they go, they should always remember that they should greet their teachers when they meet them. Bullying and use of foul language are punishable offences.
  19. Bursting crackers or splashing colours during Diwali / Holi and on other days or celebrating any day for no reason in the school premises, is strictly forbidden. Noncompliance to these instructions can result in expulsion from the school.
  20. The school reserves for itself the right to terminate the students with unsatisfactory progress in studies or whose conduct is a bad percept for others.
  21. Parents, guardians and visitors will not visit their wards or teachers in the class room without the permission of the Principal.
  22. Students should return their report cards duly signed by their guardians within the date specified.
  23. School appointees should wear their respective badges daily.
  24. All students should get their nails cut regularly and should inculcate good habits of brushing their teeth, polishing shoes etc.
  25. Girls should plait their hair if it is below the shoulders. Short hair should be neatly cut and pinned. Nonconforming students will be severely dealt with.
  26. Senior and junior students to access toilets/lavatories and water purifiers/coolers exclusively earmarked for them.
  27. To claim any kind of duplicate documents one has to pay an additional amount of Rs. 100 and the same will be issued within 3-7 working day.
  28. To claim any kind of documents older than 3 years one has to pay an additional amount of Rs. 200 and the same will be issued within 3-7 working day.

Academic Rules

  1. Attendance Requirements: Specify the minimum attendance percentage required for students to remain in good academic standing.
  2. Homework Policies: Detail expectations for completing and submitting homework assignments.
  3. Grading Criteria: Outline how student performance will be evaluated and graded.
  4. Academic Integrity: Define what constitutes academic dishonesty and the consequences for plagiarism or cheating.
  5. Examination Guidelines: Specify rules for taking exams, including procedures for makeup exams and accommodations. 

Behavior and Discipline Rules

  1. Code of Conduct: Establish expectations for student behavior, including respect for peers, teachers, and property.
  2. Anti-bullying Policies: Outline procedures for preventing and addressing bullying behavior.
  3. Disciplinary Procedures: Detail steps for handling behavioral infractions and the consequences involved.
  4. Dress Code Regulations: Specify appropriate attire for students and staff.
  5. Device Usage Policies: Provide guidelines for using electronic devices and accessing the internet during school hours.

Safety and Security Rules

  1. Emergency Procedures: Outline protocols for responding to various emergency situations, such as fires, natural disasters, or intruders.
  2. Safety Equipment Guidelines: Specify proper use of safety equipment like fire extinguishers or first aid kits.
  3. Hazardous Materials Handling: Detail procedures for safely storing and handling chemicals or other dangerous substances.
  4. Visitor Policies: Establish rules for visitors entering the school premises, including sign-in procedures and identification requirements.
  5. Incident Reporting: Provide instructions for reporting safety concerns or accidents to the appropriate authorities.

Health and Wellness Rules

  1. Immunization Requirements: Specify mandatory vaccinations for students in compliance with health regulations.
  2. Illness Reporting: Detail procedures for students to report illnesses or injuries to school staff.
  3. Medication Administration: Provide guidelines for administering medications to students during school hours.
  4. Physical Education Guidelines: Outline expectations for participation in physical education classes and sports activities.
  5. Nutrition Policies: Promote healthy eating habits and establish guidelines for school meals and snacks.

Facilities and Property Rules

  1. Facility Maintenance Standards: Establish expectations for maintaining cleanliness and orderliness in school facilities.
  2. Equipment Use Guidelines: Specify rules for using school equipment and resources, including computers, labs, or gym equipment.
  3. Parking Regulations: Detail parking rules for students, staff, and visitors, including designated areas and permits.
  4. Personal Belongings: Provide guidelines for storing personal belongings and using lockers or storage spaces.
  5. Prohibited Items: List items not allowed on school premises, such as weapons, drugs, or disruptive materials.

Extracurricular and Activity Rules

  1. Eligibility Requirements: Specify criteria for participating in extracurricular activities, clubs, or sports teams.
  2. Event Organization Guidelines: Detail procedures for planning and executing events, including permissions and logistics.
  3. Student Leadership Rules: Outline expectations for student leaders, including responsibilities and conduct.
  4. Fundraising Regulations: Provide guidelines for fundraising activities, including approval processes and use of funds.
  5. Chaperone Policies: Establish supervision requirements for off-campus activities, field trips, or excursions.

Communication and Technology Rules

  1. Communication Guidelines: Specify channels for communication between students, parents, teachers, and administrators.
  2. Technology Usage Policies: Establish rules for using school-owned devices and accessing online resources.
  3. Internet Safety Measures: Provide guidelines for safe internet usage and prevention of cyberbullying.
  4. Privacy Policies: Detail procedures for protecting student information and maintaining confidentiality.
  5. Social Media Guidelines: Provide recommendations for responsible use of social media platforms by students and staff.

Examination Rules

  1. Attendance Requirements: Students must maintain a minimum attendance percentage to be eligible to sit for examinations.
  2. Absences due to illness or other valid reasons must be supported by a written excuse from parents or guardians.
  3. Exam Registration: Students must register for examinations within the specified deadlines set by the school administration.
  4. Late registration may incur additional fees or penalties.
  5. Admit cards will be issued to registered students, which must be presented at the examination venue.
  6. Exam Timetable: The examination timetable will be published well in advance to allow students to prepare accordingly.
  7. Any clashes in the timetable must be brought to the attention of the examination office immediately for resolution.
  8. Exam Conduct: Students must arrive at the examination venue at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start time.
  9. Mobile phones, smartwatches, or any electronic devices are strictly prohibited in the examination hall.
  10. The examination hall will be monitored by CCTV cameras to ensure compliance with exam regulations.
  11. Only approved materials, such as pens, pencils, erasers, and calculators (if permitted), are allowed on the desk during exams.
  12. Exam Regulations: Students must adhere strictly to the instructions provided by the invigilators throughout the examination.
  13. Any attempt to cheat, communicate with other students, or engage in any form of academic dishonesty will result in immediate disqualification from the exam and disciplinary action.
  14. Exam Papers: Students are responsible for checking that they have the correct examination paper and reporting any discrepancies to the invigilator immediately.
  15. No student is allowed to leave the examination hall during the first 30 minutes or the last 15 minutes of the exam.
  16. Exam Submission: Students must stop writing immediately when instructed by the invigilator and submit their answer scripts along with any supplementary sheets provided.
  17. Answer scripts must be handed in securely, with the student's name, class, and examination details clearly written on every page.
  18. Exam Results: Examination results will be released on the dates specified by the school administration.
  19. Students can access their results through the school's online portal or other designated channels.
  20. Appeals and Re-Marking: Students dissatisfied with their examination results may submit an appeal for re-marking within the stipulated timeframe.
  21. Re-marking requests must be accompanied by the appropriate fees, as per school policy.
  22. Consequences of Violating Exam Rules: Any violation of examination rules may result in penalties, including but not limited to disqualification from the examination, loss of marks, or disciplinary action.

PENALTIES FOR VIOLATION OF
ELECTRONIC GADGETS FRISKING

  1. Attention Students! Strictly refrain from bringing unauthorized electronic gadgets to school, including smartphones, laptops, tablets, pen drives, headphones, smartwatches, cameras, recording devices, power banks, Bluetooth devices, and other accessories. Violations will incur serious consequences:
  2. (A) Monetary Penalties: A Rs. 3000/- fine and return of the gadget with a commitment to avoid future violations.
  3. (B) Persistent Violations: A Rs. 5000/- fine and a potential 15-day suspension, with the return of gadgets depending on a commitment to not repeat the mistake.
  4. (C) Transfer Certificate Issue: Repeated violations may lead to the issuance of a Transfer Certificate, resulting in withdrawal from the school.
  5. The school bears no responsibility for gadget damage during or after frisking. Adherence to guidelines is crucial for a safe learning environment. Your co-operation ensures the well-being of the school community.

Withdrawals

  1. One clear calendar month’s notice in writing or a month’s fees in lieu of such notice must be given before a pupil can be withdrawn.
  2. Those who leave the school in May must in all cases pay the fees for the month of June.
  3. Transfer certificates are not issued until all dues of the school are settled.
  4. Students can be asked to leave the school on the following grounds.
  5.  (a) Acts of Indiscipline.
  6.  (b) Un-satisfactory progress in work.
  7.  (c) Repeated detention in a Class.
  8. A student who fails twice in the same class will not be permitted to continue his / her studies in the school.
  9. However, where a withdrawal takes place due to the above reasons the question of charging a month’s fee in lieu of notice does not arise.

Punishment

  1. Blue Card : Students habitually late to school, careless, lack of punctuality, failure of the student to be in proper school uniform over a period, any act of misconduct or misbehaviour etc. leads to the issuance of a Blue Card (Jointly by Class Teacher and House Warden). Such a student will report to the Class Teacher and H.W. both in the break time each day for a Week during which the student is on Blue Card. If the improvement / progress during the week is satistactory, the Blue Card can be revoked.
  2. Red Card : Careless and untidy work in academics, unsatisfactory performances in different subjects weekly tests, and terminal examinations lead to the issuance of Red Card (jointly by Class Teacher and Subject Teacher) and which has to be signed by both the teachers on each day of the week during which the student is on Red Card. If the progress during the week is satisfactory, the Red Card can be revoked.
  3. Yellow Card : Serious offences which reflects adversely on a students conduct e.g. breaking bounds, dis-obedience, telling lies, misbehaviour, using foul language etc. leads to the issuance of a Blue Card which deprives the offender of availing privileges in the school for 15 days. He / she will not be allowed to attend any programme, picnics or outings while on a Yellow Card. The award of 4 Red Cards or 2 Yellow Cards in an academic year in quick succession may lead to the expulsion of the offender from the school on disciplinary grounds. (i.e. the Child automatically loses the right to continue his / her education in this institution.)
  4. However, for issue of any card Minus points will be given to the class and house of such students which will account for Best Class and Best House for the session.

Library Rules

  1. The School Library is open to all bonafide students of the school. All classes are provided with at least one library period per week. Students have to observe the following rules
  2. Students should bring their Library Cards.
  3. Each student of classes IX, X, XI and XI I can be issued two books at a time for a maximum period of 10 days. Classes II to VIII can be issued one book for 10 days.
  4. Students are allowed to borrow books only on their own cards.
  5. They must maintain absolute silence in the library.
  6. Books other than reference books are issued for 10 days. If the books are returned late without a valid reason, the borrowing facility is withdrawn for 4 weeks and a fine of
  7. Rs. 10/- per day will be charged for returning books after the due date.
  8. Books marked, disfigured or damaged will have to be replaced or paid for by the borrower.
  9. The Library has an open shelf system and students must help to maintain order and organization in the different shelves. They can take the books for reading and must keep them back at the same place after consultation and not just on any other shelves.
  10. Students are not allowed to bring their personal books or belongings into the library.
  11. Books issued should be returned to the Library in a good condition. Strict action will be taken against a child found damaging or defacing a book. (The borrower will have to either replace the book back or pay the price of the book.)

 Rules regarding Internal Assessment

  1. There will be two Internal Assessment for all the classes , which includes Assignment Test, Periodic Test, Notebook, Subject Enrichment and Portfolio.
  2. It is compulsory for all the students to appear the Assignment and Periodic Tests both.
  3. Students remaining absent in any of the Periodic Test will be awarded ZERO.
  4. All the students need to keep their Class Notebooks in proper condition through out the session. This will cover regularity, punctuality, assignment completion and neatness & upkeeping of Notebooks.
  5. At the END of the session the students need to submit their notebooks to their subject teachers for Final Assessment.

Rules for Promotion

  1.  LKG-II :  A student must secure minimum grade 'D' in each aspects of all the subjects (evaluation-wise).
  2. III-VIII : A student must secure 40% marks in each subject (term-wise).
  3. It is also mandatory for the student to secure 40% marks out of 20 marks (Internal Assessment) in each subject (term-wise).
  4. IX-XII : A student must secure 33% marks out of 50/70/80 marks in each subject (Theory only) in the Final Examination.
  5. In order to be declared as 'Pass' a student must secure 33% marks in each of the main subjects (theory as well as in Internal Assessment / Practical Examination) separately.
  6. Maintaining a consistent performance throughout the session in the Internal Grade subjects (General Studies/ Work Education/ Physical & Health Education) is mandatory for Classes XI & XII.
  7. Notes: Promotion is granted on the basis of the performance of the students during the entire Academic Year.
  8. Students must obtain a minimum of 75% attendance to be eligible to appear in the Final Examination/CBSE Board Examination.
  9. A student failing in one of the five main subjects shall be eligible for Compartment Examination. The student will be declared 'Pass', provided he/she qualifies the compartment. The syllabus for the Compartment Examination will be the same as the Final Examination. A student failing in two or more subjects will not be eligible for compartment and shall not be promoted to the next class.(Only for classes IX & XI)
  10.  A student who fails to appear or fails the compartment will be treated to have failed the examination and will not be promoted.
  11. A Child who fails twice in the same class will not be permitted to continue in the school. Transfer certificate will be issued to him or her.
  12. In case of any modification by the CBSE the above policy may change.

RULES FOR INTER HOUSE COMPETITIONS CLASSES I TO XII

  1. A student can take part in two individual items, one group item and any no. of other open competitions.
  2. A student can take part in either English Debate or Hindi Debate.
  3. No student can take part in both solo song and solo dance competitions.
  4. Collections of names, selection of students and practice should be done during house periods only.
  5. Topic/s for English/Hindi debate and and Essay Writing will be announced a week before the scheduled day and that for Art and Painting and Extempore, topic will be given on the spot.
  6. For Art and painting competitions school will provide drawing sheets and for Essay writing ruled sheets will be provided.
  7. All other necessary things are to be arranged by the students.
  8. All the students are advised to take part in open competitions and preliminary round of other competitions.
  9. For Inter House Games and Sports competitions, a student can participate in 2 outdoor events and two indoor games at the best.
  10. On the Annual Sports Day a student can take part in maximum two track events and two field events. Relay Races are open competitions. Participation in the Relay Race is restricted to individual House cadets.
