Delhi Public School Society: Nurturing Minds, Shaping Futures

Introduction

Pioneering the pursuit of excellence in school education, The Delhi Public School Society embarks on its journey towards its 70th milestone.

The Legacy

In the aftermath of the partition of the sub-continent in 1947, a massive movement of people ensued, with displaced masses seeking refuge and education for their children. The Government of India, alongside visionary NGOs and social activists, rose to the challenge. Against this backdrop, the Delhi Public School Society was founded in 1948-49 by eminent individuals such as Dr. Tara Chand, Shri M.N. Seth, and Shri Vishnu Sahai, among others. Fueled by the motto "Service before Self," the DPS Society was registered under the Society’s Act, establishing its inaugural school at Mathura Road in 1949. This flagship institution transformed the educational landscape of India's capital. Over time, esteemed figures like Shri Dharma Vira, Dr. Prem Kirpal, and Justice S.M. Sikri joined the cause, continuing the legacy that remains a pillar of strength for the DPS Society's educational mission.

The Humble Beginning

From its humble origins as a single school, the DPS Society has expanded its educational footprint across the nation and beyond. Today, its legacy of quality education extends to millions of young minds through nearly 200 schools under its auspices.

The Human Resource Development Centre

The DPS Society has empowered educators and students alike, fostering a culture of learning aligned with the Four Pillars of Education: "learning to know," "learning to do," "learning to live together," and "learning to be." This ethos culminated in the establishment of the Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC), serving as a platform for knowledge exchange and innovation within the education community. The HRDC facilitates collective vision-building, prepares educators and students for the future, and ensures alignment with societal needs, contributing to the nation's intellectual vibrancy and economic success.

The Journey so far

Driven by collaboration and shared aspirations, the DPS Society's journey has engaged diverse stakeholders, including educators from core and affiliated schools, fostering synergy towards common goals.

A Vision for Quality Learning

With a steadfast commitment to quality education, the DPS Society advocates holistic learning and lifelong learning for both students and teachers. Its vision encompasses the cultivation of responsible, compassionate, and patriotic individuals who uphold the highest values and contribute positively to society. The formal establishment of the HRDC in 2006 marked a significant milestone, consolidating resources under one roof to further advance educational excellence.
